What is osteopathy?

  • Traditional Osteopathy, as presented by the Canadian College of Osteopathy, is defined as: “A natural manual therapy which aims to restore function in the body by treating the causes of pain and imbalance.
  • To achieve this goal the Osteopathic Manual Practitioner relies on the quality and finesse of his/her palpation and works with the position, mobility, and quality of the tissues.”
  • The osteopathic philosophy embraces the notion that the body is naturally capable of healing itself. The practitioner of traditional Osteopathy works with the body to enhance this natural ability to self-regulate and self-heal.

When was the CCO established?

  • The Canadian College of Osteopathy (CCO) is a prestigious osteopathic school that was established in Toronto over 25 years ago.
  • The model for their educational philosophy and approach to treatment has been based on what's successful at the Collège d'Études Ostéopathiques, Philippe Druelle D.O., founded by him back 1981
  • The college is a member of the Association of Traditional Osteopathic Colleges of Canada (ATOCC).

Our School experience

  • For those who want to be the best, it takes more than technique.
  • The Osteopathy Program at Canadian College of Osteopathy Toronto provides theory and practice in all areas that are necessary for becoming an excellent manual practitioner along with professional support from our team members which includes supervision through clinic work experience opportunities!
  • Our colleges have trained more than 1800 students.
  • The Canadian College of Osteopathy is committed to providing you with an amazing learning experience that exceeds your expectations.
  • We start off by having some of the best faculty members in all four corners, who are also experts within their fields!
  • This means they'll be able to guide and assist every student individually, so no one gets lost or left behind - not even during class time when everyone needs help, sometimes hardest.

What kind of program is taught?

  • We offer a 5-year part-time program for health professionals.
  • Our students graduate with a D.O.M.P. (Diploma in Osteopathy Manual Practice)
  • The CCO's program is a comprehensive blend of osteopathic philosophy, theory and methodology that are introduced in an order designed to provide students with the knowledge they need.
  • The coursework combines learning about each element before introducing it fully so as not overwhelm learners at once.
